Safeguarding Standards for Coaches working in LTA Registered Venues
From 1 October 2020 it became mandatory for venues applying to register with the LTA to ensure all Level 3-5 coaches operating at their venue were LTA Accredited.
In holding LTA Accredited status, coaches will have completed the appropriate safeguarding and first aid training and undergone DBS checks. Players that choose an LTA registered venue will know that the activity delivered by a Level 3-5 coach is conducted by an individual who is trained in safeguarding, has the appropriate qualifications and is insured. It is the coaches’ responsibility to purchase and maintain their LTA Coach Accreditation.
Coaches without a recognised coaching qualification cannot join the LTA Coach Accreditation scheme and therefore are not be able to deliver tennis sessions independently at registered venues. To do so would be in breach of LTA Safeguarding Standards, and this could impact the venues’ registration benefits.
