STANDARD 3 – CLUB WELFARE OFFICER (CWO)
LTA registered venues must have a CWO who has undergone the necessary training and fulfils the duties of the role with support from the Club Committee.
The CWO is responsible for promoting safeguarding within their venue and working with others to ensure a safe and inclusive environment is achieved.
The CWO must not be a member of the venue’s coaching team and should not be related to a member of the coaching team (for example, their spouse). The Welfare Officer should be someone over the age of 18.
To achieve this standard
In cases where another form of safeguarding training has been completed, or where an individual holds a professional safeguarding role (i.e. police, social care or designated safeguarding lead), the LTA can review this training and give dispensation so that equivalent courses can be taken into account.
The ECC CWO for cricket also carries out the role of the Tennis Section CWO. The CWO has completed all the mandatory ECB requirements and has a current LTA specific Disclosure and Barring Service clearance check. The LTA accept this training satisfies LTA requirements during the annual LTA venue registration process.
