Round-up: Round 12

James Quinlan2 Aug 2024 - 19:39

Not quite enough...

Round 12 started well for us as our 4th XI opponents conceded the game, handing us victory. Always a nice start. However, what followed wasn't quite so good.

Our 1s headed over to Eastcote, who elected to field first. Despite an early loss of a wicket, we built steadily to 108-2. Harry Wilkins (41) and Kamil Ehsan (34) put on 61 for the third wicket. We then collapsed to 159-9 and it was only Dan Naughton (48*) who dragged us towards a more reasonable total. We were all out for 200.
In reply, early wickets would be needed but, unfortunately, they didn't come. An opening stand of 96 put the victory firmly in Eastcote's grasp. They continued to build and, despite losing a clutch of wickets, they were able to do enough to get over the line, winners by 4 wickets.

Our 2s hosted Headstone Manor at Lincoln Road. We batted first and, despite losing Ajay early on, we built a very solid innings. Runs came mainly from Adeel Saeed (70), Callum Wick (49*) and Oscar Dallmeyer (39) as we put together a strong 245-6.
Unfortunately, with the ball, we just couldn't do quite enough. On the whole, we kept things tight and restricted runs but we weren't able to get the wickets we needed, as Headstone Manor batted out for a draw, six wickets down. A winning draw for us.

Our 3s faced a tough day over at Stoke Newington. Stoke Newington batted first and were able to score freely throughout. Our bowlers couldn't build enough pressure, nor take wickets at key points, as our opponents totalled 271.
In reply, we never got going and never mounted a challenge to Stoke Newington's total. All out for 116.

This week's fixtures:
