A mixed bag

After the washout of Round 9, all four sides were back in action last weekend.

The 1s went over to Old Isleworthians and were put into bat. We didn't start well, falling to 34-5, but our lower order came together to put on 147 as we hauled ourselves to 181-9. They were very ably led by Harry Wilkins' 52* - another sign of Harry's development as a batsman this season.
Our bowlers were, unfortunately, never really able to get a foothold and build pressure and Old Isleworthians came home victorious by 7 wickets in only 28 overs.

The 2s also faced Old Isleworthians and fielded first. We were able to build early pressure and maintain it as we had our opponents 38-4 and then 87-7. It was only a few lower-order runs that got Old Isleworthians to a decent total, as they finished 164-9. James Ryan finished with 4-30 and Mohammad Jawad got 3-32. Also, a special mention to Sam Martin for his figures of 13 overs, 7 maidens, 1 for 12.
In reply, despite losing an early wicket, our batters were able to take the attack to the opposition, led well by Kamil Ehsan (86), who was supported by Callum Wick (31*) and Ajay (23), as we came home winners by 7 wickets.

Our 3s went over to Alexandra Park and were asked to bat first. It was a very steady batting performance as we built starts and the beginnings of good partnerships, though lost wickets at intervals. The innings was held together by Bilal's century and he was well supported in the middle overs by Adeel Saeed (35) and Muhammad Waqas (27). We finished on 218.
With the ball, we kept it tightly and took early wickets. The wickets continued to fall regularly as our bowlers got the rewards for keeping it tight. James Quinlan (3-27) and Adnan Zameer (3-39) led the way. However, some middle order defence ate up valuable overs and then AP's two old boys at 10 & 11 showed all of their experience for nearly 10 overs, as we just couldn't find a way through. Unfortunately, we finished one wicket shy of victory.

The 4s hosted Cheshunt Rosedale and bowled excellently to restrict their opponents to just 98. Fahim Arbabzai (3-22), Joe Simons (2-10) and Muhammad Fawaz (2-16) were the pick of the bowlers.
With the bat, it was a composed and comfortable chase, again led by Ayaan Bokhari (65*), as we came home comfortable victors by 8 wickets. Ayaan has shown great composure in his first season of men's cricket.

On Sunday, we hosted Journeyman CC in a friendly. We, unfortunately, came second but it saw the welcome return to the Lincoln Road turf of Phil Marshall and Bruce Conway. Who knows maybe the restart of a career...? It also saw a century for Chris Beale and a half-century for Zohair, albeit in a losing effort.
